The new, high-octane iPhone 3GS is loaded with features that could light up your life -- but its battery isn't one of them.
Buyers are finding that the device, introduced two weeks ago, has trouble making it through a workday without a rest stop at the electrical outlet. It's proving to be something of an Achilles' heel on Apple Inc.'s flagship device, more than 1 million of which were sold in the first weekend.

Quite right too.. I am finding the same.. Cant get through a day without a charge. Details on how they obtained the run times can be seen here. http://www.apple.com/iphone/battery.html
Specifications say that you can Audio playback:
Up to 24 hours
Total rubbish. My brand new 3GS plays mp3 files at a moderate volume for about 4 hours if you are lucky!
Wandered into your blog from Details are Sketchy, I think I'll add it to my RSS reader. But I must disagree with this. I upgraded to a 3GS and I noticed a considerable improvement to battery life. I don't know about the other commenter, but I regularly use about 6 hours of audio playback a day with barely a dent to my overall battery drain. Your mileage may vary, I guess.
